Fitting:

  • Fitting shoes is an 'art form' (some say - 'religion').
  • It is very hard to fit shoes (any shoes) over the internet, and determine a correct size.
  • Feet change while sitting (shorter), standing (longer), before or after dancing, and by cold, hot, dry or moist weather.
  • Sizes are 'relative' and not 'absolute', and change from one manufacturer to another.
  • Miller & Ben Tap Shoes' sizes span from European size 34 to European size 48, and in half size denominations.
  • The difference between half sizes is 3.33 mm (about 1/8 Inch).
  • In the USA - order shoes half a size smaller then your street shoes.
  • In European scale - order your street shoe size.
  • Be aware of the fact that these shoes stretch during regular use, due to the soft composition of the upper leather.

    Table Of Taps:

    • All seven models of The Miller & Ben Tap Shoes were designed to fit the following list of taps precisely.
    • This recommendation refers to the size of taps and not to the quality of sound produced.
    • Personal tastes in taps are vast. You can choose to use any tap that suits your needs and/or liking!
      And the 'Fiber'?:
    • The 'Fiber' is the black (some times red) piece of plastic that is sold together with some of the taps.
    • The 'Fiber' is supposed to be installed on the sole with nails (requires cobbler's installation), and the tap is then gently screwed to it.
    • The 'Fiber' does make a difference in the quality of sound. Taps that are installed with it, will have the ability (if slightly loosened) to produce higher pitch, and wider resonance.
    • The thickness of the 'Fiber' indirectly affects the sound too. It should be about one mm thick in order to be able to 'hold' the tap firmly. If it is too 'thin' it won't hold, and the dancer will start losing screws eventually...
